Medford, MA - May 22, 2024 - The Charlotte and William Bloomberg Medford Public Library is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a substantial three-year grant aimed at enriching our ability to run exceptional MakerSpace and Technology Lab programs and enhance community access to these resources. This generous grant will empower the library to offer more technology classes and supports, more MakerSpace badging classes and open drop-in times, and more of the DIY programming you love.
The funds will be allocated over three years, enabling the library to undertake several key projects, including:
Expanded Technology Outreach:
Launching a Technology 101 series in the Fall
Offering more one-on one Tech support
AV Room programming
Introducing a series of workshops highlighting the AV recording studio at the Library
Expanding our ability to record personal stories about Medford for our Local History collection.
Community Engagement:
More drop-in times for youth and adults so more folks have access to the MakerSpace
More staffed times for folks to tinker, create, learn, and have fun in the MakerSpace
More hands-on art and craft programs and workshops
"We appreciate the generosity of the Cummings Foundation and their dedication to supporting Medford and Makers everywhere," said Barbara Kerr, Director of the Charlotte and William Bloomberg Medford Public Library. "This funding will allow us to significantly enhance our services, reach more people in our community, and provide a space where everyone can learn, connect, and thrive.”
